9am - 12noon Starting your flock
- Breed considerations (and conservation)- where to buy sheep, and what to look for- transporting your flock and the first few days
12noon - 12:45pm - Lunch (Bring your own)
1pm - 3pm Animal Husbandry
- basics of sheep
- nutrition and healthcare
- hoof trimming, vaccinations and deworming
- the cost of keeping sheep (financials)
3pm - 3:30pm Coffee Break (coffee provided)
3:30pm - 5:30pm Breeding and Lambing
- Goals and purpose of your breeding plan
- Timing and infrastructure for breeding/lambing
- troubleshoot lambing
Cost: $50 - $75 (Sliding Scale)
Location: Long Way Homestead
This workshop will occur outside and participants should wear adequate/comfortable footwear and clothing for farm conditions. Please bring a pen and notebook and your own water bottle.
